does not render Ezra Sil fonts for osmhb module... #144

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.downloaded the latest font into jswod/fonts directory
2.made an entry into fonts.properties file for osmhb=sileotsr.ttf
3.open and bible. The squad shape font style is not detected

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Other font styles work, but they all seem to be more hand written styles rather
than the book style.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest version of and bible on android jeallybean 4.2.1 for Nexus 7

Please provide any additional information below.
You can get the font from the Open-Siddur-Project-Hebrew-Font-Pack-1.10.zip

I think this may be a bug in Android 4.2. I have been struggling (for a long
time) to find a fix for this but have so far failed.

I discovered something similar when I noticed, with Android 4.2, the default
font for KhmerNT wasn't working, but the font for SBLGNT was working. However
on Android 4.1 all fonts work correctly. I have no idea why some fonts work on
Android 4.2 and some don't yet. All suggestions gladly received!

Test:
Run Android 4.2 Emulator; Download KhmerNT; Most characters are missing as if
font not used. Compare Translations - shows fine with latest fix.
Run Android 4.1 Emulator; Download KhmerNT; All characters display fine.

David, am I missing something in the opensiddur links or is there a fix there?

Regards
Martin

Assuming this is the same issue I have been grappling with recently. I have
raised a bug report against Android 4.2.

I have been having a similar problem. However, when I installed a custom
hebrew enabled flipfont with more tradtional hebrew characters (on my Samsung
S3) the bible view (with OSMHB) was reverting to droidsans even though that was
not the system font, whilst in the search results the (custom) system font was
showing up. So it would seem that something within the programming relating to
the Bible view was switching the hebrew in the Bible view to droidsans, even
when the system font was a custom flipfont which was showing up in the search
function. I'm not sure how helpful this is, but I thought I'd share what I had
observed in case it gives any pointers.
