BIGGER!!! #49

Kindly, can u make everything in this program looks bigger or at least be adjustable? Now it is by font 10, like a content of the food, almost unreadable :( I'm very grateful for this app, this is amazing! THank u so much.

Yes. maitreya8 already HAS these adjustments available. First, upgrade to maitreya8. Then open the "Configuration" panel. You will see a small triangle to the left of "User Interface". Click on the center of this tiny triangle once. If you did this correctly: the triangle will rotate clockwise 90 degrees, opening four 'sub-menus' below the "User Interface" menu. Click on the "Fonts" sub-menu (As shown below).

Now, you may make them ALL BIGGER: click on the Choose button, and from the pop-up font chooser, select a larger size font. Then Click "OK" to close the pop-up font chooser. You must click "Apply" in the Configuration Panel for the Fonts and Sizes you chose to actually take effect. But now you do not need the magnifying glass program to read them. You can make them Too Large also. Choose wisely!

ALSO: Try a Different "Skin" - Right Click in the Chart and select from the "Skin" menu. (Might I suggest "Big Signs / Rainbow 2" ... my current favorite.)

Namaskar! Dear, thank u so much! Sorry, I have exams that time, was unable to do anything else. Now they completed. Yes, I did all of this since beginning, but only now (after I restart program) I see effect. thank u so much! In case if I could be of any use to u (as a tester or what ever u need) just let me know. Presently I'm studying Jyotish in India and can share with u whatever I know, in some cases even ask my teacher, who are unbelievably cool.. Most knowledge of Jyotish, as i see, available mainly in Sanskrit & hindi. My ever the very best wishes to u!

I am not the developer of this program. (Sorry, I should have made that clear from the start) I'm a grateful user, just like you ... I just happened to have the answer ... and the real developer is no where to be found.

I am spreading this program around, and generating MUCH Interest for it, here in America. I am also filing "Bug Reports" as I find them ... I have found a couple in each of the last two versions of maitreya, so far.

I didn't think you needed to wait for an Answer. Namaste!

anyway, dear user, I'm still very much grateful to u, bcz program is really cool, especially bcz works on Mac (others similar cost around 400$ :O)

I also use Mac. This Program is very good, and has made me curious about Vedic astrology, also.

A few months ago, I've fixed a couple of bugs and presented the code updates. However, my updates were not merged.

I was mainly interested in improving the KP system portion of Maitreya.

Overall, I'm a huge fan of Maitreya - totally cool program dedicated to Astrology lovers and open source. Salute to the developer(s).

I have barely learned anything about Western Astrology: but this program helps me learn more.

I'm not interested in any languages EXCEPT "Computer Languages" (I.E. Code) ... I dabble at that also. I'm thinking about contributing code: but another user's comments deter me from that.

I have a Hobby Site, on which I have a link to maitreya - and a brief review of it.
HERE: Maitreya is a mature Open Source platform for Vedic and western astrology (There are other free programs listed besides maitreya ... maitreya is listed as the best free astrology software ... and LibreOffice is listed as the Best Free Office/Productivity Suite, for instance.)

PLUS: I gathered up all 57 required data files to install the COMPLETE Swiss Ephemeris and stored them all in a single zipped up folder. I uploaded those upgrade files to the page from which maitreya is linked to: from so others do not have to do all of that work. The File Size is 36.6 MBytes Total.

You can do the complete Ephemeris Upgrade by downloading this file, and unzipping it, and telling maitreya where these files ARE kept ... you can save an hour of hunting down, and downloading, each file, one by one, from the Ephemeris site ... and you can get the highest accuracy, and widest date range, right away.

The link to the archive containing ALL 57 necessary files required for upgrading to the Swiss Ephemeris is on this page, at the bottom: Maitreya is a mature Open Source platform for Vedic and western astrology

I wish the Developer of maitreya would make this upgrade package available on his site ... or at least point people to the page where I stored them!!!

Martin Pettau is the author and developer of this software. He works on maitreya occasionally, when ever having free time from his job and when getting inspiration to work on maitreya.

He often remains silent for couple of years, and suddenly finds inspiration and develops a new version, adds features and fixes bugs within couple of months. And after releasing a new version, there is not much activity, until again he finds new inspiration to work on it again.
