Automatic Backup is not working. #30

Hi,

I am having an issue with the automatic backup feature on MySQL Backup Manager. For example, I set the start time at 15:30 and have backup to a folder that I created on the Desktop. Unfortunately the back up never started and I don't see any activity in the logs. I have no issue creating a manual backup. Any ideas/suggestions on how to troubleshoot this will be great.

Hi Im having the same problem on the 1.4.1 version as well. I try to start the service manually but it stops right after. Is there a way around to get it to work?

Could you please post the logfile? I've added more logging in version 1.4, which should help narrow down the issue.

This can be found when you go to Help - Log in the admin tool, or at C:\ProgramData\MySQLBackup\Log.txt

If you've updated from version 1.3, please perform a complete uninstall and reinstall of the application (you will not loose your settings). I've changed the installer in version 1.4 to be able to maintain the project in the future, but that broke the auto-update for installations of 1.3 or below.

I've added some more error handling and logging in 1.4.2 https://github.com/cbaerike/MySQL-Backup-Manager/releases

The service should now start, or at the very least give you an idea about the problem if it can't.

I've updated from 1.3 to 1.4.4 ( uninstall and install fresh copy of 1.4.4 ), my settings are saved but still automatic backup not working. not sure why. please help.

Even logs not showing any scheduled job when i set a time for the database. Its on Windows Server 2012.

Could you please post your logfile and the configuration files from C:\ProgramData\MySQLBackup\Configuration (you can strip out hostnames, usernames and passwords)?

Hmm, from the log you posted:

2015-10-19 15:25 - INFO - Backup created of the database arnettestdb

That would suggest that a backup was created, and the timestamp coincides with your database settings:

<StartTime>15:24:00</StartTime>

Can you please double-check that the account, that the backup service runs as, has write permissions to the backup location, and that the service is running? Also, it's generally a bad idea to use your desktop as the target for scheduled task operations - by default, only your own user account has access there. Does C:\DBBackup work?

this is created manually to test the login details for testing. sorry forgot to mention before.

Also services is stopped on Server (not sure Why) . i started it, moved to local target folder & it works :+1:
