Martin,

Can you make the check-sign more bright? My eyes or not bad, but I have difficulty seeing if it's there or not.

OK - worked out how to do it, but currently would need to update the definitions of every checkbox. I should be able to set a global style, but haven't yet worked out how to do that for Mahapps.
