write about sample size in report #44

since we're now dealing with breast cancer as opposed to lung cancer, 309 is outdated

Edit from meeting (24/4/24): Since we have calculated the size again we will have to explain this in the report as well, therefore this task now includes writing about sample size in the report. Therefore I will also change the title, since the sample size has already been calculated.

I calculated this again, but I am not sure whether I am doing it right. Right now we need a lot of samples: 3457 subjects to be exact. This is due to our high specificity. I do think this needs to be high, but maybe its good if someone else would look at it too. We can also discus this during our next meeting. @martinkremnicky @thernansab04 @cmichalopoulos2 what do you guys think?

martinkremnicky commented 3 months ago

It does seem high, but I would need to see the calculation to verify. Assuming it is correct, I still don't know what exactly to do with that information, but I suppose more (augmented) data would be needed. Are we using this in the presentation?

hkerkhoven commented 3 months ago

No we did not use it in the presentation. I think, assuming it is correct, it would mostly mean that we have to make sure that we state that we cannot make any actual conclusions, because we have such a little dataset. My calculations are on the drive.

On Hold until the outline of the report has been made

For now I wrote a small part on the sample size, since we do not have a lot of space I am keeping it short. We can always change it.
