Perhaps just add a "align horizontally" feature, or "snap to swim-lanes".

Is it possible to have the swimlane divider visible (user setting, perhaps?) Also consider making swimlanes variable heights to allow for different number of employees assigned to the same manager?

Also, possibly add a dialog window to set the org structure depth (number of reporting layers) - can be different for each department. This creates a set of horizontal rows - one for each layer of each department.

Perhaps add a sensible limit check (e.g. 100) in case the use makes a typo.
