We are fitting advanced meters not SMETS -these have a higher functionalit ynd are more flexible. The communciations will either be mobile phone or broadband with LORA radio backup
Thanks Mary - I think people are concerned whether they will be able to keep the new meter should they switch from Coop again sometime in the future?
If a new supplierwishes to change it they can - otherwise they would keep it butit may just act as a 'dumb meter'.
Another query on the metering. Is wired broadband (intranet) a possibility? They have broadband but not wireless.
Will check! TBH it may be as easy to buy them a new router!

HI
It is possible to hardwire to the router but it requires the meter and the route to be close together (or a very long wire) so it may not be very practical.

Thanks Mary,
That’s really useful. A long wire might not be the end of the world.

Hi Mary, any news on if intranet is ok? cheers, nick
We have been receiving some feedback from prospective Crickhowell ELC members regarding the Smart meters. Three queries have been raised:
Perhaps this is an unforeseen consequence of the energy-savvy people in the area - some bad press and distrust of Smart meters is causing interested people to be cautious.
