No we can use mobile phone signal or possibly zigbee. Braodband is ideal and guarantees half by half hour data.
This is interesting, I thought the comms were totally separate from broadband. Should there be a different avenue of communication or should be preferencing people with broadband? What exactly are the advantages? (We relied on broadband in ERIC and found it extremely unreliable)
Different comms can be swapped in and out of the meter. The set up that Energy Assets has a LORA radio back up in case a customer switches off their broadband ( haven't actaully demoed this part yet). LORA does not have the bandwidth of broadband. the advantage of the broadband is that we can send data half-hourly (or more often), there isn't a per byte transaction or per poll transaction cost. YOu are not retstricted int he amount of data that can be sent.
