Stoffi lists a song that it can't play #338

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play a song, then stop playback midway during the, then close Stoffi.
2. Move the song to a location outside of where Stoffi searches for songs.
3. Open Stoffi and press Play.

What should have happened?
Solution 1: Possibly add a message to the song title, such as [Unable to locate
track]

Then the user is shown in a visual way that they have made this song go dark to
Stoffi. Then the user can take measures to find and move the song back into the
Music Library. If they just double-click on another song, then they have given
indication that they are aware of this and have chosen to ignore it.

Pro: Stoffi makes the user aware that the last played file is not available.

Con: User may not see the message and click play and wonder what is going on.
They also not know how to dismiss the error message next to the song title.

Solution 2:
On startup, check to see if last played song is still there, or is somewhere in
the library, if it is update the location. If it is not in the library,
highlight the first song in the music library, ready for play.

Pro: More silent and non-intrusive.

Con: The user will not know that the song is missing until they look for it
again.

Out of these two, I prefer #2.

What happened instead?
The last played song is listed, but is not able to be played.

Can you give us any additional information that could be useful in fixing
this bug?
Keep Stoffi open, and move the song back into the Library and press play.
Stoffi still doesn't play the track even though it can see it.

If you double-click on the song it does play as expected.

What release of Stoffi are you using (Xia or Shang)?
Zhou

If you are using alpha or beta, please state which:
