What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create refs/heads/foo1
2. sync
3. Delete refs/heads/foo1
4. sync
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The missing branch is bypassed, possibly with a warning, and the rest of
the tree is synced.
Instead:
