To echo Mike's request, I wanted to add that it appears as though @mass.gov email addresses and the names of state organizations are being construed as words that could be rephrased at a lower grade level. That's obviously not possible.
We are working to let you assess content using the scoring factors that are most relevant to you. We will soon have a report that lets you see pages with low feedback scores. You can use SiteImprove to see pages with broken links and pages with high grade levels.
We will be moving away from a score that includes grade level because of this. We encourage authors to look at grade level in the context of their content.
EEA has some mass.gov content that consists of highly technical subject matter that cannot be written to a sixth grade reading level, resulting in low page scores. For example, our Department of Environmental Protection regulates a lot of chemicals and needs to use chemical names, that are considered above the sixth-grade reading level.
Would it be possible to add a “technical-page” option to the CMS that would increase the grade level standard of the content, perhaps to grade 12 or at least 10?
