Just a tip in the meanwhile: activate the mirror lock-up option and the
self-timer (both standard features); now, when you press the shutter, the
mirror will raise, the camera will wait for two seconds, and then take the shot.

Thanks a lot for your tip. I did try and think 0.5 - 1 second is excellent.
Really wait for this feature available.
Thanks,

Another Similar Tip in low light situations, or if you are a mover and a shaker
:)
If you really want to get the best low-light shot with absolute minimum camera
shake:
I recommend always setting up your camera on a tripod with an attached wired or
wireless remote (they are extremely inexpensive now for the 400D) - enable the
Mirror lockup feature - set the camera drive mode to Self-timer/Remote control
and now take the shot with the remote. The 400D can still produce some amazing
images in this manner even in very low-light with the proper ISO and AE mode
settings.

Thanks for your comments & useful links.
Unfortunately you're right that I'm a mover & a shaker. :D
From your comments, I think we can have timer & mirror lock enhancement:
- timer delay can be set from "mili seconds" to "minutes" for both timer only
and timer with mirror lock
- both timer only and mirror lock can be activated by pressing shutter button
completely instead of pressing set button. Anyway, pressing shutter button is
more convenient.
That will help in case a tripod is not available
Thanks,

Until we figure out how to intercept the shutter button, I am afraid that we
cannot implement this.

i think the best would be to use a remote control to shoot, after mounting the
camera on a tripod.
