Move to mastodon-sc org? #4

Open tinevez opened 4 months ago

Hello @sommerc

Following our discussions this week, how would you feel about transferring this repo to the mastodon-sc org for visibility?

sommerc commented 4 months ago

Hey Jean-Yves,

Absolutely!

sommerc commented 4 months ago

Hey @tinevez,

I successfully tested the importer on example data from https://github.com/mastodon-sc/mastodon-example-data.

Is there anything else I can add to the code? Licence okay?

For the transfer: I am not sure what to do, I have not yet transfered repos on github.

Cheers, Chris

Cool! But before the move I want to make sure you are really ok with the move.

I am no github expert, but basically it means that you would join others that may have push rights on your repo. You will need to define the rights on the future repo as you like (but honestly we are very civil and overbooked, so no time to be mean and destructive).

This is the current team: https://github.com/orgs/mastodon-sc/people

We have responsibilities and 'powers' that we defined here: https://github.com/mastodon-sc

The maintainers of each repo have decision right about accepting or refusing changes, and they set the pace with which these changes are processed. The main responsibility associated with the role is to make sure the repo is up to date with the core repos (mastodon-collection, mastodon-graph and mastodon). In your case this means that if we change the file format, you may have to update the repo (we don't plan to now).

Finally I will kindly ask you if it's ok to change the repo name to python-mastodon-importer to match the MATLAB importer name.

Are you ok with this?

If yes, then you can initiate the move yourself and I will include you in the mastodon team. The instructions to do so are here: https://github.com/mastodon-sc You see the settings are in the 'Danger' zone :) Careful the org name is mastodon-sc (not mastodon)

Cheers

Great! Thanks for the background information, and I am okay with! I already renamed the repo. I will probably also make a new pypi release reflecting the name, once the repo moved.

For the actual move, I think I need to be a member of the organization first. The link gives me only general information, no 'Danger zone', yet :)

Heyho, I transfered the repo "mastodon-sc" and made minor PyPi release to refect the changed location in the README. I'd keep the PyPi project name for now, if that's okay with you. Let me know if there's sth else I can do or I am missing!

Cheers, Chris
