"Check for friends" --> error "We're sorry, but something went wrong"

I sign into Twitter, and the checkmark appears next to the Twitter checklist item.

Because I've used this before, it knows my Mastodon account - so the checkmark also appears next to the Mastodon checklist item.

I click "Check for friends" and I get:

I posted on Mastodon and got a smattering of people saying it was working fine, and a fair few people saying it wasn't working for them. One in particular had the exact same error as me.

My Twitter is cassolotl and my Mastodon is cassolotl@cybre.space, if that helps!

Same thing here, I find it odd it's saying I'm logged into Mastodon when I wasn't. I'm gonna clear my browser data (not just the cookies). See if that fixes it.

I just tried after clearing cookies for both the Mastodon Bridge site and my instance (cybre.space) and it still gave me the same error. :(

The account page shows I'm successfully authorized with both services. I'm on the mastodon.social instance.

Hey everyone. I'll try to take some time to address this soon. The reason you are experiencing this is that you follow a lot of people on Twitter, the page you load queries the Twitter API directly in the request and hits a Rate Limit error. The solution is a rewrite of the functionality to use a background job and report progress to the UI.

Are you sure? I am following less than 1000 people on twitter and get the same error.
