Importing following accounts blocked them #20123

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Export accounts that I followed from the instance snabelen.no
  2. Import them to my new account at oslo.town

Expected behaviour

Imported following accounts from another instance

Actual behaviour

Blocked those same accounts

Detailed description

I tried to import the accounts I followed on another instance, so I downloaded the .cvs-file from the old instance and tried uploading it to the new. The import never seemed to happened, so I opened the .cvs-file and started to follow the accounts manually. That was when I discovered that all the accounts on the list had been blocked.

The file was called following_accounts.cvs and I don't believe I have imported them as the blocking list, though I can't rule it out.

Specifications

Mastodon 3.5.3 on operating system Firefox 106.0.5

Ventura 13.0 OS on Macbook Air (2020)

It's likely you indeed imported the list as a block list rather than a follow list. You could try unblocking all these accounts and importing the list again.

I am sorry for the inconvenience, I know the import feature is currently lacking in feedback, clarity and safeguards, those are things that I intend to work on after the next release.
