I think this is a good idea, in lieu of an algorithmic timeline. Personally I do this by going into "Follows and Followers", sorting by "Last Active" and unfollowing anyone that I don't recognise.
Ok. This looks a smart idea.
This could also be branded something like "least interacted with", as Instagram does.
Pitch
For each profile you follow, Mastodon should (optionally?) keep track of the number of favourites, boosts and replies by you. Then, if you didn't favourite, boost or reply to any of the last 50 posts or so by a specific profile, you'd be recommended to unfollow it.
Motivation
This year, we all on Mastodon and the Fedivese in general have experienced massive waves of new users. Regularly, my home timeline (and those of other people as well) was so full that I couldn't scroll back more than a couple of hours. I've had to manually select profiles to unfollow them just to reduce the number of posts in my timeline.
In light of an ever-growing community, it would be very helpful to be automatically reminded about profiles that you still follow despite not actually being interested in them (anymore). That would make cleaning up your social graph so much easier!
