Post descriptions don't show #29493

Pitch

I'm not sure if this is a result of a post being marked as nsfw but there is a "show more" button where the post description should be. People may not know to press that just to see if there's anything to read.

Motivation

As stated above, people may not know to press "show more". The description should automatically show. Plus it helps add personality to our pages. The freedom is nice here but visually things look drab on the platform. Don't you want it to LOOK more attractive and to be more user friendly?

I took 2 screenshots. When I make a post I always add a description but when I look at the post on my profile, the description area is always shows "show more". That's how it is for me on the "web app" I'm using the web app because the app store version of Mastodon seems to have an issue with retrieving the Mastodon.social server. It takes a long time to load the server and then it ends up freezing. I'd like to be using the app store version because the featured tag list works correctly on it but I can't.

This is a screenshot of what happens when I'm able to open the app store version of Mastodon. The dial just keeps spinning. I have an android and the server is mastodon.social. I've tried emailing them many times but no one replies Screenshot_20240313_131048_Mastodon

I just noticed that on the main Mastodon feed, my description is showing. It seems to be limited to profiles where we have to press show more or show less. That's how it appears to me using the web app.

I really wish the web app and the app store version were a bit more similar. The featured hashtag list is nowhere to be found on our profiles with the web app
