I was getting a connection to chromecast but no audio going to it. Fixed it by installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)
Download and install it here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555.
I found this because I was unable to register the dll "The module failed to load". I used Dependency Walker to find it's dependent on MSVCR100, aka 2010 Redistributable. Windows 10 does not come with this.
When trying to install it, I have a newer version; hmmm. I've not knowingly installed this package for any reason as far as I know, so it must have come with something I downloaded.
My error was this: A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine.
It does note that I need to consult Microsoft Visual Studio, which I "DO" have installed, and I questioned previously if that had anything to do with it; maybe the new version did away with some legacy functionality!
My situation exactly matches Bones12345. I have the newer version and there must be an incompatibility which needs to be resolved.
This much earlier version linked here works well on win 10 64 bit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Chromecast/comments/3tizl1/test_windows_cast_your_pc_audioout_to_the/
Please can we have it working with latest version?
Just a note to say worked flawlessly on first install on my Win 10 Pro 64 bit. But there again I probably have every C++ known to mankind.
Would be nice to have volume control.
Does not work on Win10 64 Bit with latest updates. Fails on regsvr32.exe commands (admin cmd) on all files, although alle files are in place. "Error loading module ...dll"..."module not found"

I've had the same issue. And since running the commands I can't see the Chromecast Audio devices on Windows 10 anywhere. (Chromecast video device is still there as an option in Chrome browser and the audio devices still work fine from my phone.) Any help?
Hello all, can somebody provide an installation guide? I've placed all files into a folder, I ran the register audio_sniffer.dll bat and checked in the registry if it is also showing up there. Then I start up the exe select one of the chromecasts (btw. groups are not showing) but no sound coming from the chromecast audio only my computer speakers. Any help would be great. Would love to get this working as well. Thanks
