Feature Request: CAJA customized format for date+time #1712

I am just opening a issue to a feature requested at the Ubuntu MATE forum. OP sister is 62 and finds it difficult to deal with date format in CAJA. OP raises the issue that customizable date format can be more handy than the discrete options available.

dear developers, In the CAJA Settings: choice how to show the date+time format:

My sister is 62 years old, and she wants to have date+time format in CAJA look like:

dd.mm.YYYY HH:MM (without seconds, they are irrelevant to her)

because that format is what she is used to since three decades.

she does not fell comfortable with the "iso"-format, because she has the feeling that everything is mixed around...

iso: YYYY-mm-dd HH:MM:SS

France, Spain: dd/mm/YYYY HH:MM:SS

Germany, Italy: dd.mm.YYYY HH:MM:SS

US: mm/dd/YYYY HH:MM:SS

Brazil, India, Asia, ... ???

Why is it not possible to have a customized format in CAJA, where everyone from everywhere in the world can easily set the format and the separators ( : . - / ) to his personal preferences?

May i ask, could you please add this feature to CAJA?

I send a big, big Thank you!

That would be great!

Following! As a quick(er) fix a config file that could be edited with YYYY, yy, HH, DD, etc settings (think excel custom date formatting) would work. Also want to link in an older issue discussing the same thing: #616
