Renaming files with Icons view failed - scrollbar issue

Expected behaviour

Rename a file will rename a filename.

Actual behaviour

Rename a file will search for a filename.

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

Icons view Rename... / or click on it - with Right Mouse Button At the bottom of the window, file will not be renamed File. Any of these files. Only appears status bar search text window.

Is this in the icon, list, or compact view? I've never had this happen but lots of things can be different.

No luck trying to duplicate this so far. Was this with scrollbars showing or just a full window of icons?

Note that if the cursor is sitting at the bottom of the window on a partially rendered icon with vertical scrollbar showing, on my machine the icons will scroll up and the selected icon will be renamed as expected.

Note that if no icon shows up as having been selected at all, then type to search would be the expected behavior

Depends on scrollbar, Only I click with RMB on icon that was not only at bottom on window, but for all files. The context menu was through window to desktop. Then this happen. I'll post small video to replicate it.

He's pretty clearly clicking the English equivalent of Rename. This reminds me of this issue, perhaps one and the same?

In any case I do get this from time to time in spatial windows as well, though not in any form I can easily replicate off the cuff.

I do suspect this issue is indeed a subset of or related to https://github.com/mate-desktop/caja/issues/1444 which is invoked when the vertical scrollbar is just barely needed. So far nobody has been able to find the cause of it.

In the video you have the just barely needed vertical scrollbar, so something is going wrong when that condition is present
