The file-chooser dialog can be set up via gsettings. Use dconf-editor gui. The gsettings schema called org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser The gtk3 file-chooser dialog isn't part of mate, so this isn't a bug. Please close.
Yes.. But if both have the same functions, and the two used gsettings to save it. Why not sync it???

Of course it's not a bug of mate, I am requesting a new feature.
Is not it annoying show folders first on caja (and there can set it), and in the filechosser everything mixed?
It's not a bug mate, but it's a usability problem between mate (Also xfce) and Gtk 3.14
p.s: Nautilus paths.
I insist that it is not a bug, but it would be nice to have this.

The default of file-chooser-dialog is too bad, we do not do stupid thinks. You can simply syncronize file-chooser-dialog to mate defaults an everything is fine.

Yes. I think like you !. It was a stupid change of gtk.

I can do it!, But plaese, think it from the perspective of users!. I can not propose an elementary school student goes into the console and use gsettings!.
Can you give me an argument against?.

As admin you can install a gsettings override file to set defaults. An example what i do for fedora: http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/mate-desktop.git/tree/mate-fedora-f22.gschema.override Such a file belongs in /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ Than execute /usr/bin/glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas Than all user on your sytem (or network) use this defaults ;) Note, this doesn't overrride existings user settings (when a user has changed a little), but it set new defaults for new and existings users. Maybe this is helpful in general for a teacher of an elementary school......
Hi, Gtk 3.14 introduce the option to sort directories first in GtkFileChosser by default, and no have a graficaly option to change it. :disappointed:
Caja really has the same option, so would be interesting that when change in caja it, syncronice with gtk.. =)
