I'm experiencing a similar issue. I typically see it when switching between or closing Firefox windows. I've experience this behavior on three separate machines, all running Mint Mate 20. All packages are fully up to date (as of 9/1/2020).
What I experience is that the title bar and minimize/maximize/close buttons on all windows disappear.
I just found these entries in /var/log/syslog
Aug 31 12:26:54 mymachine-linux02 kernel: [ 5258.973253] marco[1615]: segfault at f5 ip 00007f0c1eb4a9d4 sp 00007ffcbc1ca0e8 error 4 in libcairo.so.2.11600.0[7f0c1eaf7000+cf000]

Here are system details for the three machines I've experienced the problem with. Note the first two machines were running pretty low on the root FS disk space. I've freed up some disk space and this has seemed to help (from what I can tell so far), but the third machine has tons of root FS space, and I experience the problem on that machine as well, so while root FS space may be an aggravating factor, I don't think it is the root of the issue.

Expected behaviour
no crashes
Actual behaviour
Marco sometimes crashes when I switch or open windows. This happens regularly (but not 100% reproducible) when restoring Hamsket (https://github.com/TheGoddessInari/hamsket) from from its task symbol. Dmesg output looks like this:
traps: marco[302728] general protection fault ip:7f1d544c9180 sp:7ffdd9b47fc8 error:0 in libmarco-private.so.2.0.0[7f1d544b1000+60000]
Steps to reproduce the behaviour
Happens randomly in general, often when restoring Hamsket from its the task symbol.
