No spaces between the buttons in many themes #54

Expected behaviour

mate-calc has spaces between the buttons, like gnome-calculator:

Actual behaviour

No spaces between the buttons in many themes, e.g.

Adwaita: image

BlackMATE:

Arc:

image

Materia:

image

Please note that a few themes like Menta already have spaces because they use border-image instead of border for the button spacing.

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

Change the theme.

Why is this an error? Only because a gnome app looks like this. Personal i do not agree with you.

This is not an error, but in general it is considered that the double border is not good looking. Not only in GNOME project (e.g. KDE, Windows, macOS, Web, etc.), usually there is space between the (raised) buttons.

But if you don't like this approach, please feel free to close this issue.

Oh wow, I hadn't even noticed the double border until now. Unless there is an accessibility issue with the buttons, I'd say this is a theme designer decision.

That materia theme really looks awful on the calc! That's not our theme though...
