Please add some information in the man page of mate-default-applications-properties, in particular:
which configuration files are read and their syntax;
the order in which those configuration files are parsed;
how to create new entries in each drop-down from scratch;
if possible, the best practices to do that from a terminal.
The man page is currently composed by... 4 lines of text.
I'm currently having some difficulties in deleting duplicated entries and I am clueless on how to safely add new ones in addition to those provided by the distribution.
