I can't reproduce this with f36. Eg. putting "start-applcations" into a drawer. I can can start the applcation frm the applet in the drawer and the panel doesn't crash here. Tested with a top panel.
[rave@mother ~]$ rpm -qa mate-panel
mate-panel-1.26.2-2.fc36.x86_64
I cannot duplicate this on Debian Unstable either
Does the issue still exists with actual f38 or can we close this report?
Expected behaviour In mate-panel 1.26 when opening drawer, icons should be viewable and clickable
Actual behaviour In mate-panel 1.26 when opening drawer, mate-panel crashes & reboots, can not open drawers!
Steps to reproduce the behaviour upgrade to version 1.26 (from 1.24 which works), open drawer on panel.
MATE general version 1.26
Package version 1.26.2
Linux Distribution fedora 36 (&fc34)

When one opens a drawer in 1.26 (mate-panel), the whole panel crashes, and so, following other solutions to the bug, I downgraded to 1.24 version. This works, but is a hassle every time one upgrades! So, I found a hidden directory one day called .mateconf in the home directory, and I thought that maybe if I move said old directory, to say .old/.mateconf, that maybe the problem is a conflict between .config config files, and the ones in .mateconf, and sure enough, it was!!! Now 1.26 version of mate-panel works, and I can open my drawers to see the icons on the sub panels and use them! Hope this helps! This is for mate-compiz, currently on fc36, but was a problem on fc34. Someone on this bug site reported it as an Nvidia problem, but it is a conflict between old config files and new, so, move the old config out of the way so that the system can not see or use them, problem solved!
