Segfault when screensaver autostarts (Ubuntu Mate Impish) prevents system from entering sleep. And prevents returning to GUI #255

Expected behaviour

Upon reaching specified amount of time of no activity, screen-saver engages

Actual behaviour

Screensaver crashes with SegFault. Blackscreen results, system cannot enter sleep, and cannot return to the GUI. Syslog reveals this error

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

allow the screensaver timeout to elapse. Screensaver should turn on. Instead it gives black-screen and prevents sleep from starting

Package version

Starting occuring with 1.26.0-0ubuntu / previous packages were ok

Linux Distribution

Ubuntu Mate 21.10

I just saw this SEGV as well on 1.26.0, I upgraded from 1.24 to 1.26 just a few days ago.

This could be same as https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-screensaver/issues/263 I will retest 1.26 once that fix is all finished.
