mate-terminal does not start from console #109

When run from console as user "root" with the option --display=:0.0, the program quits without creating the window or any message. The package Manager and pluma run with the same option works fine, creating in "x" sessions my normal window. mate-terminal --display=:0.0 pluma --display=:0.0 synaptic --display=:0.0

Hmm, i do not see this issue with latest mate-terminal (gtk3) from master branch in fedora 24. But my crystal ball is dead...and you didn't provide important informations like distro, Mate release and mate-terminal version. Maybe you think only your distro ships Mate?

Accurate information doesn't matter, because I see it about half a year, if not more. Oh well please: Debian "Jessie" with latest updates, MATE-Terminal 1.8.1 MATE Desktop Environment 1.8.1

sigh, Why users can simply give us requested informations, without telling us how we should debug issues. Btw. Did you file out a upstream report? Current Mate version is 1.12 and we do non backport stuff to 1.10 or 1.8,because we are a small team. So it's up to distro maintainers to backport fixes to distros which use deprecated Mate packages. @sunweaver please take a look into it

I could not translate all the previous post, this answer that I could understand.

I tried to put "mate-terminal" from the git, during the installation process it asked for the packages which are not in the system, over the fact that vte is not in the repository, and the rest writes apt-gir1 and libsplice.

You accurately corrected me described the problem in more recent versions? And then I remember that launch mate-terminal from the console almost in the Gnome broke, I can't believe it that it's suddenly noticed.

Original text:

Workaround:

mate-terminal --display=:0.0 --disable-factory
