We would like to switch between workspaces by swiping on our touchpad with specific gestures. (Three finger swipe)

According to the comments, this only works on Wayland. That may be your issue.

Yup, now I got that I use xorg11.

Three-finger swipe works for me on X with https://github.com/bulletmark/libinput-gestures It switches workspaces, the same as without the extension
