Fix up the tstar finders

[mathesong]

A few things need to be done to sort out the tstar finders, because they're currently pretty ugly.

• [x] They should return a plot, and optionally an image too
• [x] The functions need to be genericised
• [ ] They need frameStartEnd input arguments
