• To ask for a Positive number, _?PositiveQ
• For asking for a real number (Real/Integer/Rational) _?RealQ
• To ask for something that can be evaluated to a number function (we should avoid this in the core) _?NumericQ
• For asking for Strings, and lists, _String, _List
• For asking for atomic types _?AtomQ
