Steps to reproduce:

Signed in on Pontoon. Moved to a string. Saw 2 suggestions. In my opinion, the older suggestion is better than the newer one.

Actual results:

I had no option other than copy the older suggestion to a newer one, but I'd like to maintain the credit the to original translator, and let other translators to express their opinion.

Expected results:

Pontoon should have a voting feature.

All registered translators for a language could vote once for each string, except on his own suggestions. A translator should also be able to undo his vote on a string, so he could vote on another suggestion, or let it not voted. The most voted suggestion of each string would be used, instead of the most recent one.

It should be also good to have a "Not Voted" (by me) filter. It'd easy the task of revision all strings.

At this moment, no suggestion is used, not even the first one, until it's approved by someone having sufficient rights. Also when you 'copy' an existing suggestion, nothing happens AFAIK and you will see a message that the same translation already exists.

I have nothing against voting itself, but I do not like the idea that the most voted suggestion gets approved or used automatically. Than I can create 10 accounts and vote for what I want to force push to Firefox UI, just hours before the merge, so nobody has time to fix it after me in Pontoon.

As for the suggestions feedback, I think there is a bug to add discussions and comments to Pontoon. That can serve for adding your feedback.

The localization process at Mozilla is open source and community driven, but it's not crowdsourced. One of the key differences between the two approaches is that we have a small set of trusted contributors with permission to approve translations, as opposed to leaving the decision to choose best translations to the crowd (by voting).

Still, having the ability to vote might result in something that trusted contributors could take into account when reviewing translations. It might also be a feature other organizations might find more useful than Mozilla. So I'm leaving the bug open, but marking it as low piority.
