Currently SciTE support auto detection of UTF8 encoding by the following header 
string:
% -*- coding: utf-8 -*-

UTF8 files may have several different formats with or without leading flags, 
and 
UTF8 files may not be easily tested from GBK/Big5 chinese files unless testing 
the 
file contents byte by byte. This makes UTF8 handling a bit difficult.

Anyway, thanks for your feature request. We will try to add such features in 
the 
future.
