Looks like the exact same issue is present in the "Invert" effect. Both of our effects only show the change in opacity when I press the "meta" key to show the start menu.
So I conclude that this is a KWin issue in how they are handling shaders.
Hi, thank you for all your hard work, the effect looks amazing, especially with titlebars disabled.
I have a small issue. If you go to System Settings -> Window Management -> Window Behaviour -> Window Actions, there is an option to use a modifier key and the mouse wheel to change a window's opacity. This is pretty handy, as it allows me to quickly see what's underneath the current window and work more efficiently with cascaded windows.
With the effect enabled, this behaviour seems to be "blocked" - the windows' opacity does not change instantly like before, but will only change if I release the modifier key (in my case I use Alt).
I wonder if it would be possible to fix this so that the opacity of windows can be changed with the mouse wheel as before. It's pretty annoying having to guess what the correct amount of scrolling is without the immediate visual feedback.
