[ ] We plan to make design and template changes to the our pages that will affect the layout of of the left navigation and the way we organize content, that will mostly likely lend itself to taxonomy. We will have new navigation and possible new wireframe/design for different brands.
[ ] I The business wants to apply the taxonomy to all content areas including the node-driven ones such as Our Hotel and Dining. Apparently the concern here is development effort, not necessarily that it's the wrong solution.
[ ] The Our Hotel section for ES and SS (over 160 hotels) uses the node-based content but also has content hierarchy with Eat, Play, Work which means we aren't using the automated menu creation. But we may very likely want to do something similar here with Our Hotel on the Full Service pages that use just the single listings page. The days of the single listing page are numbered and when they go, the automated menu creation will go too.
[ ] Several sections have nodes with mis-spellings or poorly labelled titles. That is being pulled into the Nav. We want to eliminate these errors. The best way to do that is to assign a common term that can be managed. Many of these errors are with Room, Suite, Dining and Our Hotel nodes, which won't be manageable in this way because taxonomy is proposed here. What is the solution for managing the errors and inconsistencies?
[ ] The Media content which is accessed from the footer has a left nav of content links. Because this is currently assigned to the footer menu it doesn't appear in the main top-level menu. Because of that, when viewed in mobile the left nav links are not accessible at all. How do users properly navigate through the media pages on mobile?
[ ] Travel Pass menu will be hardcoded because it rarely ever changes and can be edited with a dev ticket if needed. (att to confirm with Jeremy).
Node Assignment
[ ] Can I assign multiple node to a single term within the same group? No, only one per group, but could be multiple groups
[ ] Can we assign multiple nodes to a single term? No, but probably not too challenging to build post launch.
[ ] Can we assign a single node to multiple terms? This is more challenging post-launch and we should vet the use cases before if we decide it's something we want to consider.
Term Display in Nav
[ ] How are we handling Top Level exceptions such as Meridian 98, and Dining & Jazz?
[ ] How do we change the label of a given taxonomy term in the left Nav? Can we create an override field?
[ ] Does the current Title field work, or does the impact on the URL preclude us from using it? (Matt and Jeremy to align on answer)
[ ] Nav items can only link to page associated to the existing group. Links to external outlets must be done in body content.
[ ] Nav items can not link to nodes in other groups. The group offers example will have to be handled differently. How should it be handled?
Order/Position of Terms in Nav
[ ] How do we reorder terms? Hierarchy and order can be managed within the Taxonomy tree in Drupal.
[ ] Can the order/position of a term change from property to property? No, a term has a fixed position in the tree. To have a different order we'd need to create a duplicate term, which is not recommended and requires approval to do so.
[ ] For Rooms and Suites, how do I add additional links to the Nav below the ones that are automatically generated from the modes?
[ ] What is the process for changing the order of the automated links for say, Rooms? Is it driven by last-published date?
Footer
[ ] What is the solution for the footer? Static vs. Dynamic? It can probably be made statically since the footer menus do not change often so it does not need to be easily editable in Drupal. (Need to confirm with Jeremy).
[ ] We have a corporate footer, but do we need brand-specific footers layouts? We will most certainly need them, sooner rather than later. It would be great to address that in the upgrade if possible.
[ ] What is the solution to quickly add a link for an individual property or globally across all properties? It will absolutely happen.
Drupal Admin
[ ] Trying to use the taxonomy is D8 is difficult because it's hard to find content with no filter for group and because any changes I make to the taxonomy aren't reflected on the D8 site. What can be done to show changes made in the D8 admin on the site? Can I create my own builds? It sounds easy enough to kick-off, Would that impact your development? If not, what's the alternative?
[ ] Only Admins will be able to assign nodes to Taxonomy terms. A process will be required to vet new node creation from business owner.
[ ] Taxonomy will be managed in Drupal by Matt Martini to start and eventually others within the Marketing department.
Translation
[ ] Is there less translation required of menu items with Taxonomy? Auto-generated menu required translation for each node title every time. More overall translation required. I think.
