App throws an error on Android N #5357

When the app starts it shows an error from some libraries. Still the app continues working and it doesn't show the error while the App is still running.

Tried to re-install the app (my first error was when I updated to N . Same behaviour

Android Version: Android N Alpha .(stock) Device: Nexus 5x

I'm open to help debugging this in any way I can.

We'll need to have a look on this one soon I presume. If it's not compatible with Android N we might have to make the app compatible with latest Titanium SDK to get compatibility. @thyngster have you tried it with the final Android N version?

@tsteur If it's confirmed to fail on latest Android N, :+1: to work on this sometimes. Let's discuss once confirmed!

We will otherwise need to get an emulator working or something but for this I need to be able to build the app. I'll see if I find an image for my tablet

Couldn't find a recent image for my Nexus so might need to try it in an emulator

piwik_android_n I'm running the latest Android N (from beta program) version , and that error is gone, but now after you send the app to the background, when bringing it back it will randomly crash with no specific error. The app is still pretty usable besides that.

The release for Android N is expected to be 2-3 days on August 5th. Let's test again with the final version and I'd start working on it and try to fix it if the error remains. I'm hoping there will be as well an image for my nexus then

FYI: Apparently Android N is now supposed to be released mid / end August

@thyngster can you have another look now that they have released the final version? Unfortunately, Google doesn't support my Nexus tablet anymore and won't receive any updates :(

FYI: I tested in an emulator and it worked fine but this may be different on an actual device

Hi, sorry for the delay, I was travelling. I updated my phone the same day the final version went out, and it doesn't happen to often as before but it still crashes. I must say that I didn't had a chance to do a hardreset to the phone, and that I have like other 2 apps that crash in the same as Piwik does.

Is there any way I could debug the error ?

@thyngster If I upload an updated APK, can you give it maybe a try?

Sure I can. FYI I got a new nexus 5x because my previous one died and the new one with android 7.0 (fresh install) was giving the same error, Android 7.1 Alpha still crashing the app.

Let me know where to grab the apk and I'll test it.

Would you mind also trying to change the period to eg "week" in the date chooser? The emulator crashes when doing this on Android 7 but it works on my phone which runs on Android 6
