Make a plugin for integrating Shopify and Shopify Plus #20243

From a Shopify E-Commerce user:

I work for an agency whose clients are 100% on Shopify or Shopify Plus. I think your tool is great, but I've seen that merchants on Shopify can encounter problems when integrating with your tool, especially in the checkout process where the data doesn't seem to be coming out, because it seems that the integration isn't done correctly.

I was wondering if your roadmap included an integration plan with Shopify and Shopify Plus so that all merchant sites are supported and benefit from your tool with "ecommerce" metrics. Do you plan to launch a connector soon?

We have a guide how to integrate it here: https://matomo.org/faq/new-to-piwik/how-do-i-install-the-matomo-tracking-code-on-my-shopify-store/ I'm not aware of any plans to build a connector. This also won't be anything, that needs to be added to Matomo itself.

@mattab If you think a Shopify Connector might be be something to consider as a separate project, maybe we should create an internal issue to work on that at some point and close the issue here?

In the last seven days I have had two emails from Shopify users who said Matomo is working great in Shopify. And I have not had any complaints in several months, so I would count this 2 for 2 in the wins column for Shopify <3 Matomo.

One Matomo user wrote to ask if we were considering adding documentation that would show examples of how to use the following feature, as a Matomo user:

As for my question, I see that Shopify now has a custom pixel solution that may provide better tracking. https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/promoting-marketing/pixels/custom-pixels. I played around with this a bit but I didn't really see myself spending the time to write in all the custom events. Is this something you folks might be working on?

I will go put this in our internal docs Jira backlog, but am putting it here in case it is relevant to this conversation too.
