2 years ago I am also experiencing this issue, there are a couple fixes for SkyrimVR specifically that address Mator Smash not looking for the Plugins.txt in the SkyrimVR directory instead of the SkyrimSE directory (you have to copy the file manually or via script to the VR directory).
I'm not using SE and have the issue, so I have no idea what the problem or solution is.
Greetings. Excited for Motor Smash and trying super hard to make it work.
Here is my error, on a newly loaded windows 10 with everything loaded from scratch for the first time, virgin fresh everything. Skyrim SE (not vr). Complete log at the bottom.

Smash insists that patches cannot load because masters have to load before it. But looking in MO2 the load order is fine, with the understanding thouhg that MO2 is grouping the patches with the mod being patched and hiding them from view. Skyrim se loads and runs fine.
My noob guess is that Smash cannot see the patches properly due to MO2 black magic and thus it breaks smash.
I have watched youtube tutorials, which are no help because they are too dated. I searched and posted on reddit, discord, and the step forum. I think I should just have posted here first but I did not see the link until the end.
SSEDIT 4.02 is able to load all the mods with no problem running from inside MO2.
Thank you for making the mod, hoping we can get this glitch solved. Maybe I am the glitch.
