DOC: format tweaks #8

Just some suggestions for the front matter. Strongly suggest don't use Computer Modern. Please edit the headings as you see fit and take or leave the width of the columns. I couldnt' see any restriction on number of pages, so recommend making the width of columns narrower for readability.

Why not computer modern?

The margins have to be at least 1/2in, reset back to 1in.

I made the margins wider than 1 inch, not smaller...
