Thanks. Since the diff looks simple enough, I'll merge. However, this project hasn't been maintained for a long time and a previous attempt to move it to async / .await has failed.

I recommend not using matrix-ircd anymore, and will archive the repo.

If I were you, I'd probably fork https://github.com/martinetd/matrirc as a base for a new Rust Matrix to IRC "proxy".
