cmus plugin not working? #775

I just installed BB1.9.2 and the cmus.10s.sh plugin from the official site. It is in my menubar now, however it doesn't detect a running instance of cmus (in either iTerm2 or Terminal). The plugin is able to launch cmus in both terminals, but still says cmus is not running when it has done so. I have restarted cmus and BitBar several times.

The only time I get a different view in the menubar item is when it's freshly started. It says Track, Artist, Album, Play. But there's nothing to play.

What should I be looking at to get the plugin to sync with the app? My OSX is 10.11.6 by the way.

I can add that when I run cmus-remote -C status in another terminal, the output is perfectly meaningful (status playing/stopped etc. or no output when cmus is not up), but I don't understand why the plugin script appears to see something else.
