There's the "update automatically" button in the plugin preferences submenu (xbar
dropdown), should be able to toggle it on and off from there.
I think you're missing the issue.
I don't want to update automatically. I want - as the title says - to disable the check for updates.
I already have a process for installing updates. I use brew
. I choose when to run brew
and update software. I don't want software to automatically install without me deliberately choosing to do so, and I don't want software nagging me every day if I haven't chosen to do so.
While I 100% agree with you @OpinionatedGeek, and find pending updates that interrupt the thing I actually want to do with a program before I can do it just as infuriating as you probably do, I think the culture is changing around us, such that (automatic) updates are the expectation.
Edit: especially with Apple operating systems.
How do I disable xbar checking for updates?
I've installed via
brew
, and I update it viabrew
. I don't want xbar to check for updates, and I really don't want it interrupting me every day to tell me an update is available. Is there a way to turn the whole update-checking-and-automatic-updating subsystem off completely? (I've looked and failed to find any way of doing this.)
