Move some generally useful classes from the application contrib? #3563

There is some infrastructure in the application contrib, that is useful also in other places (other contribs). To avoid circle dependencies between contribs, it would be helpful to have theses "general" stuff at a more general place...

This came up after a short discussion with @rewertvsp. ->This issue is just a note that we may discuss this in the hackathon.

+1 I guess the common contrib is the right place for that
