have software and hardware issues. splitting and delegating here. there's too much to cover, we need to spread knowledge and get back online faster. add redundancy in account paths to reduce single points of failure.

been going nuts over network irregularities since february. discovered we're running a counterfeit intel nic. suspect a failure to set MTU and MSS properly. was building our own FreeBSD drivers and discovered the nic's firmware didn't respond properly to a version check. asked for spares nics to replace counterfeit: https://discord.com/channels/739865703561035778/785932350696980511/1270415062682570814

next step

needs firmware update installed the card and we're running it now. not a magic bullet, and i need to dig deep and build drivers to get at the stuff i need. appears to be totally legit

to do

basically i need to update the firmware will be a little bit of time before that happens, especially since it's in a running system. may be a few days if account generation is going well.
