We're growing up and need to have rules. @Perle had suggestions for community moderation. Need to state rules about reposting and scraping too. Possibly under "fair use".

SERVER GUIDELINES

In the spirit of fair play and in the interest of community safety, please observe these rules:

I. Do not harass your fellow trainers. Negative behavior toward others will also not be tolerated. Offensive user names are exploiting the spirit of this rule. II. Chat spamming, inappropriate "jokes" and repeated swearing are not allowed. III. Use common sense. Be kind to others. Breaking the spirit of a rule will be punished just like the violation of it. IV. This Discord runs by the grace of donations. Those posting information obtained here to other venues jeopardizes the health of PK Maps. Do not do this.

Violation of these rules can result in a temporary or permanent vacation from the server in the form of muting or bans.

Do not hesitate to approach [Whatever the moderator tag is @moderator for instance] with your concerns.

Under discussion whether spawn repost with attribution and posted by a human will be permitted, since it’s something people will do anyway

@PerleWynn 's Server Guidelines are a great start. I'd like to keep it simple and to the point, this covers almost everything. I was thinking of anti-bullying, but that falls under "negative behavior" nicely.

"donations" -> "contributions". Great way to mention extreme reposting devalues the info and stunts new features and coverage.

Need verbiage around Fair Use, I like the "spirit of the rule" language. It may be part of IV, or its own thing.

Thinking out loud... The intended fair use of this system is for individuals playing in a community, not to help services acquire assets. A $5/mo contributions doesn't permit data scraping, swamping the system with requests, spamming chats beyond function (as mentioned above), or piping info into another engine. Spoofers are going to spoof, it's up to them to spoil the game for themselves. Looking to discourage that behaviour so it doesn't affect IRL players. No map data will be used to help locate players by name holding gyms.

@higanbana13 's reposting situation attribution when posted by a human will be changing as more features are pushed into the free tiers. They'll be open for use on this site. Share a server invite instead, or possibly as part of attribution.

More thoughts on fair use.

The gist is inappropriate use shall not negatively impact others' access to the full experience of their tier.

So, one can post, but spamming degrades the community's experience. Unauthorized reposting such as a channel forwarding bots, scraping, reselling, or otherwise exploiting the system that gives a disproportionate benefit over those participating within the intended spirit of the service will be managed.

A draft rules channel has been created in the operations category. It's faster there to make lots of little mods.

Still tracking the issue here. Completion and the overall thought process are good to have tracked here on the project board.
