can't seem to Print Print preview for an individual sheet and Design Details #66

Hi Matt,

I am using Tiny Cad to produce detailed information about the watering systems I have installed on my property. Does well except it doesn't seem to -

    • return to the sheet tab view when finished viewing Preview - has to "re-opened after closing preview screen then opened to "full screen. I can handle the multiple mouse clicking for this issue; I don't believe I had that problem when I used it last year for another project.
    • only select the first sheet to preview, not a user choice sheet to preview. Not had this before either. Is there a setting that needs adjusting?

Feature request: Is there a way to change the the "layout" of the fields in Design Details'. I get around it currently by deselecting option to show this feature and replace the area with a "Note" I checked for any updates but is seems I don't need one although is does say [Develop].

Also tried to find anything related in Github, but nothing seemed apparent

Hoping you can help once again

Hi,

This issue seems to have come about from changes that Microsoft have made to the MFC print preview component. I have had a look at it and there is no immediate obvious solution to the issue. I am not sure that I will be able to fix this issue any time soon as it involves the complexities of the MFC framework.

However, I have not abandoned TinyCAD and you can use the browser based version instead: https://online.tinycad.net/fs - the print in this works by generating a PDF output that you can preview before printing.

Thanks, Matt.

Thanks Matt,

Not surprised that you have indicated Microsoft “fumbling” around with things. They are great at doing that. Must be a monster headache for you designers. In fact, I nearly mentioned that possibility before I sent the question. Sorry to hear that it is becoming more prevalent in your world and subsequently, our (users) world too. I hope you aren’t “throwing your hands in the air” about Tiny Cad – too good a program to uses in either form.

Nonetheless, the browser based version is quite workable and once I get the library things sorted into it, that too will be an equally acceptable tool. A quick look at it, well quite a detailed look at it, only seems to be a case of getting one’s head around the buttons and there usage on the screen. They are basically the same, just done a bit differently. Thanks for the advice and access to it. I have seen it mentioned on the website but didn’t really see the need cos I was getting on all right with the app.

I can understand that the “design details question probably not being a good thing to “ user adjust” in the light that it could be fraught with danger for users to dabble given the work to protect the issues with Microsoft being a threat to stability.

Regards
