German translation/i18n code #63

Now that I'm thinking of waiting 'til releasing 1.0 (beta?), it's mucho 
important to provide a German translation, for the biggest audience so far...

1. I need a German translator. If you're reading this, send me a line!

2. Code needs to be internationalized. How am I gonna do that?

I would love to translate the program to German.
I'm currently on place 19 of the all-time translator leaderboard on Facebook, 
where I translate new functions from English to German since 2009.
For i18n I would recommend GNU gettext (http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/).
