Some UI / Functionality Notes #1

Hey Matt!

This is looking really great, I'm excited! I've got things mostly working.

While implementing the front-end, I kept a list of some feature requests and not-so-ideal things that I came across (from a user standpoint). Most of them involve backend tweaks.

Here's what I've got so far:

Beers that are "on tap" and also on the list should be displayed at the top of the "on tap" list for easier access (less scrolling)
Beers that have been "drunk" on the full chalice list should be displayed at the top, too.
Rename /account/edit-list to /account/list for brevity
Fire a notification on page load when a beer is checked off the "on tap" list
Combine all user account forms on one page
Remove redirect to /taps after checking off a beer

Bigger ideas:

It would be sweet if the lists could auto-save without having to reload the page, or press a button to submit the form. Press to check the beer off, and fire a notification. Maybe using AJAX?

I'm going to set aside some time to work on this tonight. The first list should all be easy - I love the idea of sorting the taps. The second list is something I've thought about and would love to do - I'll see what I can figure out.

I've taken care of all but combining the forms and ajaxifying the check process. I might get to those tonight, but I might not...

The alert currently just pops up an ugly box at the top of the list. Thoughts on making it less bad? Javascript alert? (see index.blade.php in frontend/taps)

Unified the profile pages, and fixed the bug where new users couldn't mark beers. Ajax may have to wait until tomorrow, but I'm pretty happy with it as it is now.

I think I'm going to create a friendlier AJAX success notification for when you check / uncheck beers if that's cool. Also, I still need to style up the profile page, should be able to get to that at some point today.

I wasn't really a fan of the stock JS alert, but that's about the outer limits of my JS abilities, so I'd be psyched if you could make it less crappy.
