Fixes #249 in the first way I suggested

The CI tests seem to be broken. To test this commit, I did the following:

Ran npm run test, which passed (after killing a server to appease those annoying tests that check exact port numbers)
Ran npm run start, which (probably duplicating a test), showed no regression in loading the null favicon
Tried it with my game, which loaded my favicon as expected.
