Feature Idea: Integration Boards and Jira Project Manager #4451

Summary

When a change is made in Boards it is reflected in the Project Manager of Jira, and the contrary

How important this is to me and why

Importance: Low

Use cases:

  1. share project development with non-Jira users
  2. consolidate collaboration in one place (communication and project management) for heavy Jira users (developers)

Additional context/similar features

Boards is redundant/not used because all Jira users have already set up their project within Jira. An integration bidirectional would increase the usage of Boards. I estimate it would increase adoption, offering an opportunity to transition conveniently from Jira to Boards. Client discussion: Accenture/Octo

Also looking for an integration with Jira.

  1. I would like the option to just replicate the board into Mattermost and if an item is moved into a different column, it should execute that transition on Jira.

  2. This would likely be easier to implement: If a board task is referencing a Jira issue, and that issue changes status, it should be replicated on the board. This would serve my use case just fine if option 1 above were not implemented. It could also be a way to have a mix of card types on a single focalboard (jira and local).
