Feature Idea: editable datetime field type #4456

Summary

There's a date filed type available, also there're created at / updated at fields that are of the datetime type, however they're not editable. What would be nice to have is something like a datetime type for custom fields.

How important this is to me and why

Importance: High. Currently looking to use the Calendar view more extensively, however limited by this.

Use cases:

  1. Meeting time.
  2. Error recorded at.
  3. Report back by.

Thanks for the feedback @moorchegue! This makes sense and is something we're considering for the longer term. Related to https://github.com/mattermost/focalboard/issues/257.

@wuwinson What's the latest status of #257 ? Should I begin this one or that one?

Would be super useful to have start and enddate especially in calendar view when you have meetings or certain tasks to be done at a certain time in person.

I just started testing MatterMost/FocalBoard. The ability to set a time is critical for meeting planning. I realize that the current Calendar component likely needs some tweaks on the UI end. However, even if the Calendar View remained the same, card view for the day would be a great first step. Thank you and the team for the amazing work on MatterMost. It is an excellent platform.
